February 5 - The Poor Man's Starbucks

After the unexpected death of our neighborhood Starbucks, we have had to drive 25 miles to get a latte if we wanted one. Well, I've heard so much hype about the McCafe drinks and I was seriously jonesing for an iced coffee a couple days ago, so I decided to try one. I got a Non-Fat Iced Vanilla Latte. It was quite tasty and cheaper than the ones from Starbucks.

And now my new (daily) vice is Iced Lattes from McDonald's.

I'm lovin' it! (Insert cheesy grin and thumbs up here.)

February 4 - Clean Up on Aisle Two!

Okay, there really wasn't any
catastrophic hazardous spill
or anything. I just needed a catchy title to my boring entry.

Today, I made a meal plan,
printed a grocery list and
went shopping. This is how
it looked when I took it all out of the bags. Yikes!

It does make me feel fortunate that we have enough money to
buy food when so many people are suffering through this horrible economy.

Tuscan Vegetable Soup with Sourdough Bread and Salad

Three Bean and Beef Chili with Honey Cornbread and Banana Pudding for dessert

Portobello Lasagna Roll-Ups with Zucchini Parmesan Crisps

Jamaican Meat Patties with Salad

I haven't tried any of these particular recipes yet, but they all got great reviews, so they must not suck too badly. :)

February 3 - Home Alone

After much thought and calculation, I came to the realization that the new temp job was too far and too costly to get to. I called the girl at the agency this morning and let her know, so I am once again unemployed.

So, what did I do to keep myself entertained today? I went outside and took pictures. In the snow. Like a huge dork.

This fairy braved the elements to take a walk
through the woods and play with a bunny.
(She didn't even know I was there!)

These young lovers are practically swallowed by snow.
It's sort of like Titanic, but with frozen precip...

February 2 - New Job

I started another temp job today. It's about an hour away, smack dab in Amish country. This position's going to last until the first part of June. It'll be a long drive, but when you have scenery like this, who's complaining?
